It’s simple: if you’re unhappy at work, you’re probably unhappy in life. Fortunately, this is possible to fix. Harvard’s Arthur C. Brooks says that people who are happy at work usually have two traits in common: They feel that their work creates value and they feel like they’re serving others.

Brooks, who co-authored (with Oprah Winfrey) the book, “Build the Life You Want”, sat down for an interview with HBR’s editor in chief, Adi Ignatius, for HBR’s live series, “The New World of Work.”

The full interview is here:

  1. This is one of the most moronic things I’ve ever heard, I’m not surprised you affiliated with Harvard University. I wouldn’t expect anything less.. You people don’t even know the difference between a man and a woman😂

  2. Study done by some moron who doesnt understand the people he's observing and goes on to push hustle culture because he made assumptions about them.

  3. I work as an account manager, so my whole day is about wing of service to others and co sitting them on the best products to buy from my company. I have to say I AM really good at this because so many people refer their friends to me. But I get ZERO satisfaction, NO recognition from management (and the pay is sheet) Is it unprofessional to want to have external validation to motivate me and feel good about my job?

  4. I dare you to take this happiness chart and overlay it with an IQ chart.
How many midwits are happy being wage slaves and does the happiness drop off with enough mental bandwidth to realize you're financially trapped in servitude.

  5. I love how people who have money always tell working class people, if you're not happy with you're job just quit or suck it up and change your attitude. Im sick and tired of this bs. They can run their own companies.

  6. Either that, or you work where they promote the most incompetent and unintelligent people into management positions and they beat everyone into submission with their stupidity. If you want a list of workplaces where you can see this, message me.

  7. Idk i dont hate what i do i just got get paid a lot and boss refuses to give raises, its actually a chill job but i need money too. and Im happy with my life but it sucks when the company is getting bigger profits but your pay is the same … its not that im unhappy its that im not being rewarded
