Work from home or remotely now? With over 12 years of experience working from home (after getting laid off in 2008 during a similar world crisis), I wanted to film this video to help you if you’re having to work from home or remotely for the first time, especially if you know you’ll be doing this for a while.

  1. This is really insightful.
    One tips i repeated, even had to call my name so it can sink in is point 5 thats because im guilty of not doing it. I just learnt that Taking breaks is like rebooting 😊. Its better to take breaks and come back more effecient than not. Scheduling should be a norm, that i recommend.

  2. I work entirely remote, and I bought an under desk pedal bike online cheap like $30-40. It is a big help for me, in fact, last month I was really struggling to get back “into it” after being away for a month on holiday. After using the pedal bike today I found it helped me keep focused and active, I felt I could think clearer and work more efficiently, plus losing calories! Additionally, getting fresh air, keeping door open a crack, having windows open, helps keep you freshened up. Being cooped in a room all day does you no good. Also, I recommend having a walk outside, even if just in your back garden, at lunch or when you are free, helps the brain.

  3. Number 3 is so interesting – it made me go and check the release date: march 2020. That makes so much sense.

    An updated version of this is work related news. I find (since I’m a contractor) that I stress over my timesheet not being updated or waiting for emails back. Just relax, man. This news will come as it comes.

  5. One thing I would add is "go outside." Sometimes 3-4 days will pass before I realize I haven't been outside! Especially in the winter months.

  7. Thanks! For me it’s a different struggle every couple of months lmao. Sometimes I don’t feel motivated enough and end up on bed all day, sometimes I feel burnt out and even though I get work done I feel sick of everything, sometimes I just can’t concentrate even though I feel motivated, it’s always been an uphill battle HAHAHA. I think having a schedule and communicating with people around me are the best tips, it’s a little bit relieving to know that I’m not the only one who struggles with this 🥲

  8. Many thanks for all thiese tipps!! I would make point 2 even deeper. HAVE social life, nurture your social life and friendships, AND schedule social life events. I would definitely not recommend to replace that with online meetings. In person social life and nurtured and intimate friendships are important to us all, but when you are at home the whole week, working alone, those people you meet in person are increadibly important for emotional and mental health.
