This is not true. And this is what’s killing us… you can eat twice a day and still gain muscle by intaking healthy calories.. you got wild rice, chickpeas, lentils, avocados mushrooms, etc.. eating right before bed is unhealthy your not allowing your body rest and or break down those foods properly. Fasting is necessary and helpful. So this is not the only way to build.
And how are you supposed to follow that when you work 8 hours a day 5 days a week and don’t take breaks,that’s my problem

Very true… And as you mentioned we need to take advantage of liquid calories since they are easier to digest than chewing foods which take more effort.
I like to mix avocadoes, with callory/protein shake, with full cream milk, banana, and a teaspoon of olive oil. I check the callory count online and guzzle away the whole day.
