  1. I'm a local and while I don't go to Ala Moana that often, maybe a few times a year, I still get lost there if I have to walk around a lot. Different levels and sometimes the information on google maps isn't accurate. Regarding the ATM fees, not sure how it is with other banks but Capital One has loads of free ATMs on Oahu. It's never a problem finding an ATM without fees.

  2. To prevent vehicle break in’s do the following:

    1. Empty the vehicle of anything valuable! If you care about it getting stolen, remove it.

    2. Leave your car UNLOCKED! This will prevent your windows getting busted.

  3. ❀it. Mahalo, although I would suggest bringing a water filter pitcher to help save the earth and reduce the enormous amount of plastic waste. Especially in HI.
I have two pitchers. One for traveling & one for home use. Reducing the plastic waste & the drinking of toxic plastic bottled water is something to be aware of.
    Just a suggestion. ❀to all.

  4. Born and raised in Hawaii and I've never purchased Poke at an ABC store, heck, I didn't even know they sold Poke!….I've never been to a Aulani or a Waikiki Luau…..

  5. The ATM fee thing, just get yourself an account with a debit card/atm card without any fee. There are many products out there that do that now. Sure, the ATM will charge you that fee, but your institution (with such a product) will refund you all the fees either by transaction or by the end of the month. I would suggest Charles Schwab, for instance.

  6. I'm from Hawaii, these are not 12 scams. Oahu is expensive, these are like shopping tips. don't turn your back on the ocean, how is that a scam? Here's a real one, avoid time share hustlers, or buying weed in Waikiki, its Oregano. imho.

  7. Europe also has very tight parking spots, my husband would have to let me and the kids out before he would park in and back up before we would load back in. We are doing a Luau however it is the Disney one as I am a huge Disney fan, we are not staying their because of the cost. We are stay at the Hale Koa.

  8. *Stay OFF the roads during "Lunch and Rush Hour" TRAFFIC in the mornings (between 5-9AM) and lunch and evenings (11:00AM-2:30PM and 3-7PM), depending on what side of the island you're on too! As for weekends in the Haleiwa/Sunset areas, you're better off adventuring there during the work/weekdays, avoiding weekend traffic! You've been warned…Have Fun and Stay Safe! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ŽπŸ€™

  9. Have family from Oahu, we visit every year. Costco is a god send.
    Rip currents are real.
    Don't leave belongings in vehicles.
Shop local. The fruit stands are worth their weight in gold.
This is a great video, good job not bashing tourists. Most tourists that I have met understand to tread lightly and respect everything.

  10. Regardless of what the local tells you, you’ll be mocked for shopping at Costco. If you buy a pineapple at Costco and don’t spend the extra ten bucks to support a local business you’ll have kook written all over you. Some things are just worth it.
Locals complain about β€œmainland businesses invading the land” but this dude is promoting what they hate and complain about…Costco being #1.
Support the local people and spend the extra money on their products regardless of price please. And no I am not native Hawaiian.

  11. Hey guys, where is a good place to purchase coffee beans? I will be staying on the Waikiki strip and want to buy a couple pounds of Kona coffee

  12. OVERSEAS WORKERS WITH THE HELP OF THEIR HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT PUSH NATIVE HAWAIIANS OUT OF HIGH TIPPING JOBS! THESE RESORTS HOUSE THESE OVER SEAS WORKERS RENT FREE PURPOSELY TO SAVE MONEY TO BUY OUR FORECLOSURE HOMES!

  13. Hawaii sucks.
Its a giant shit hole with hordes of mongrels and some military equipment on top.
    Hawaiians really got fked.
    Natives on Native lans only!!!
